I’m just no fan of flat paintings. As I’ve experimented with mixed media more and more, I like the depth that layers and layers provide.
I’ve got bunnies on my mind! I think I’m getting into the Easter spirit. These bunnies have been on my mind for awhile, so I finally decided to paint them.
I get asked a lot about what my process is with art, and for a long time I’ve wanted to do a time lapsed video that showed the building of the different layers. The only problem? I know nothing about video!
I love doing craft shows in part because it gets me up close and personal with people. They tell me what they’re looking for in their art, and I pay attention. I like to create things that people enjoy. That’s especially true with the verses I use on my art.
My little pup usually sits right by my side when I’m painting, so it’s no wonder she has managed to find her way into my art recently.
For me, creativity is one big circle. Sometimes I get inspired by words and those words become poems or stories, and other times I get inspired by images which include words.
Still playing… still exploring. Pretending I’m a kid again each time I sit down at the art table.

One question I was asked recently was whether I carry a sketchbook around. I carry a journal always and actually have them all […]
You knew it would happen eventually! I’ve been so obsessed with glass sculptures the last few years that I just had to write a book about them.
I’m working on a new series inspired by brides. I remember the day I got married so well.
I’ve been experimenting a lot with different styles. The more I do mixed media, the more I love it. The more I experiment, the more I stretch myself and discover new things about my art. I’m so enjoying it.
Thinking a lot about grace and hope these days. I feel so blessed that God is there to blanket me with grace. I need it. Every single day.
You know how I’ve been groovin’ on the words of John these days. I never used to enjoy John because he was so cerebral and poetic. Ironic, isn’t it?
It took me a while, years really, to grasp this concept of what it really means to be a child of God.
There are certain Bible verses that really stand out to me.
I’ve been working on a poetry project centered around hope. I have a poem I’ve written, and I’m creating pictures to accompany some of the verses.
