I learned that Mary Oliver passed away yesterday, and although she was into her 80s, I wished she could have had a few more years. We need her observations and wisdom. I have mentioned that when I got to see her at Marquette University a few years ago, it was one of the biggest highlights of my entire life.
Mary Oliver was a dog lover, and ironically while I filmed my Instagram story saying goodbye to her and reading one of her poems, my own doggie Genevieve snored loudly in the background. I think she would have especially liked that part.
