Poetry is one of the ancient arts, and it began as did all the fine arts, within the original wilderness of the earth. ~Mary Oliver
One of the biggest thrills of my life was seeing poet Mary Oliver at Marquette University a few years ago.
I learned that Mary Oliver passed away yesterday, and although she was into her 80s, I wished she could have had a few more years. We need her observations and wisdom.
I start this Instagram Roundup with a quote from Mary Oliver (and what better way to start anything!) that says: “What is it you plan to do now with your one wild and precious life.”
It’s a beautiful sunny Saturday and I’m still in the gratitude afterglow and can’t think of a better way to spend the day than with some poetry.
Normally I do links on Saturdays here and there, but since I’m wrapping things up for the year I’ll post a few here now. Then I can wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and catch up with you again when 2015 rolls into town.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to see Mary Oliver receive an honorary degree from Marquette University. I think it’s taken me weeks to write about it because I still can’t wrap my head around it. It was so cool.
