What does it mean that the truth will set us free? From the beginning, when we tried to control our own destiny, things went poorly for us. God’s way is the way of freedom. So when Jesus says he is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6) it means that we are not confined to this trap of sin forever. It means that we can choose him and stop trying to control this world ourselves. It means that true freedom, from sin and shame all the things that bring us down.
