This painting is part of a project for the League of Milwaukee Artists, where we are exploring the limits and freedom in monochromatic design. While typically monochromatic involves a variation of greys (and whites and blacks) with a single color, I decided to do layers of a specific color in blue. It’s a watercolor pen, something I usually only use in my art journals, but it was fun to create on this cradle board.
One reason I enjoy worked in “mixed media” is the fact that challenging yourself with different techniques and processes can expand your art style and the joy in creating.
