I came across this post from the Putting on the New archives from about five years ago, and thought you would find this perspective on moving helpful.
A lot of people I know right now are in the process of moving. Some have just moved, a couple had their place on the market for a long time, others are relocating and starting a new life… and we’re in that mix, too. I am reminded constantly while being in this process about how little we’re actually in control of in life. A lot of home buying is left up to “life,” or, if you’re someone like us, you believe that God is in control of it.
I do believe that. Our belief in Him has helped us manage our expectations and be patient. We’ve looked at it like, “If it’s in God’s plan to get that house, we will.” If it isn’t, we’ll be disappointed but trust that God has our best interests at heart. I know He does, but when I’m going through a lot of stress or frustrating situations, I sometimes forget.
I’m clinging to this verse as we transition through the moving process.
