I love to find new purposes for things you’d normally throw out. I think that is why I always use scraps of paper and lace in my art. I like knowing that when someone else thinks something is “worthless,” that I see the value in it, and more than that, that it can be made into something beautiful.
And yes, there is a metaphor in that.
I also like to create in my art journal. And I like to do art with inexpensive supplies.
Combine all those and what do you get?
An art journal making class that uses stuff from your recycle bin!
I like this project because it is all about reusing things, from the way we make the journals to the stuff we put in it! I use my art journals to use up paint I have left on my pallete or scraps of paper, and in doing so I create small books I can carry with me when I go to art shows or the coffee shop. It’s a great way to fit art into your day while also upcycling stuff you’d normally throw out.
