I relate to books so strongly. Everything about them seems comforting and familiar. Years ago, I wrote a poem about the way we live our lives. How we let life lead us around. How we sit back and make choices in response to what others want. We too often do not step outside the comfort zone, and yet we are too often unhappy.
I’ve been there. It is a challenge for all of us. Because stepping outside the comfort zone in any way (relationships, career, faith) is tough. It is never easy. It will never be easy, even when you’ve done it. You have to keep going.
But never feel like it is hopeless, or worse, that what you do doesn’t matter. It matters! What’s more, those times where you tried and failed, those are the times you learn and gain more courage to fight for the life you want.
I’ve made mistakes and fallen down, and sometimes I’ve been met with unkind people who have pushed me down, and in each case, it was a challenge to get back up again. Surround yourself with people and environments who will lift you up in these times. Reach out to God! He will help you. He will give your spirit strength to try again and connect you with the right people and situations. The ones that are right for YOU and you alone.
These are the thoughts behind this poem.
