This was my first book, from 2004. I actually edited and finished it the year before but I waited so I could publish it in my new married name.
🙂
I painted the cover image and as per usual, placed the words right into the girl’s hair. I remember the publisher wanting to do a separate font with the cover title so it would be clearer, but I just so badly wanted those words flowing through her hair, all part of the painting which became the cover.
Words and images have been linked for me creatively since I was a child. When I designed the cover of The Difference Now, I wanted it to reflect a girl who is completely free with herself, comfortable in her own skin, who had been through plenty from the time she was little and who now wanted to simply stand on her own and enjoy the blessings God had given her.
This girl is not me (I get asked that all the time) but I like to think of her as any woman who wants to enjoy the sunlight on her face, with blue flowers to remind her of all that is possible.
