What does it mean to live boldly? To me it means moving on with grace from disappointment, forgiving those who hurt you, and recognizing the blessings in every day. Does that definition surprise you? I think we relate “bold” living sometimes to people who are out there not giving a rip what people think or who are loudest on Facebook.
But when I think of bold, it’s the ones who live with this strong sense of peace. They don’t have to be the loudmouth in the room, they don’t have to put down others in order to feel better about themselves. That’s too easy. The boldest people roll with the punches, go to work without complaining, and look at their life with gratitude. They are the people that on the outside look like they’ve always had an easy life. But when you look closer, you see how much they’ve gone through, and yet they still choose to embrace joy, they make good choices, and they have a mature view of love and boundaries.
Being bold doesn’t sound easy, does it?
Being bold for me means holding tight to God and knowing that it is all going to be alright… if not now, then one day. It’s not wishing for my own sense of “justice” but for God’s work to be done. When I’m truly as bold as I want to be, I put aside my views about what life should be like in order to embrace what God is doing.
No, being bold isn’t easy at all.
I picture the bold me able to stand erect, feeling the sunshine on my face, free from past hurts. You can’t hold on to anger and hurt from the past and live a free life. You just can’t.
So maybe the pose of this little red-headed girl might surprise you. She’s got her hands in her pockets, easily riding the changing seasons of life. The ups and downs of life flow over and around her and yet she isn’t shaken. This is the bold life, the one that comes with hope.

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.
2 Corinthians 3:12
Be bold with hope!
Be bold enough to shake off the negativity of the world so your heart can be free to embrace the hope of God’s world.
