There are certain Bible verses that really stand out to me. Sometimes a verse will suddenly become clearer to me or suddenly apply to something I’m going through, and I read it over and over until it almost becomes a mantra. Recently I talked about how much John 3:16 has become more and more important to me the older I get. The older I become the more I’m able to wrap my head around this, and it never ceases to amaze me. That God became one of us, walked with us… all to become closer to us and save us for eternity. I’m humbled and amazed and excited by this!
John 3:16 is a favorite of a lot of people for good reason. Lately, it’s been a big influence on my artwork. Here’s a couple new prints available in my Etsy store.

I know I’m one of the people who keeps telling you this is one of my favorite verses. So thank you for creating more 😉
I agree with you about how the words become more awe-inspiring with age. It almost like God gives us a maturing of faith to face the trials that are to come.

Isn’t that amazing, Eileen? That’s one of the things that always surprises me, that when I think I’ve read the Bible and know the words, suddenly the words take on new meaning. God knows how to grow us inside and out, doesn’t He?

Hi Cherie…this verse becomes clearer as I get older, too. I think it’s God’s plan, that we get the true meaning as we mature. I used to think that John 3:16 was a sign held by someone at a football game. Since I got saved, I realize more and more that verse is the foundation of our faith. I get sad and happy when I read it…sad at the misery that our Lord had to go through…and happy at the thought that we, who trust in Him, get to have eternal life with Him. Awesomely powerful verse.
