We’ve been celebrating National Poetry Month here, so for the final day I’ll share a poem that appears in Father’s Eyes, currently free on Kindle.
This poem, “Cast Away Lillies,” is about the moments you realize that a dream you’ve been holding on to needs to go. Either you don’t have time, you realize you lack talent, or life is getting in the way. I wrote this when I decided to let go of my dreams of writing. As soon as I did, God had other plans, and opened up new opportunities for me I couldn’t have otherwise anticipated. I think life is like that sometimes.
