This weekend was writing-centered! Friday night I met up with two writing friends from different parts of the country that I had worked with for three years yet had never met in person. All of us work for an online writing site, and had only interacted through the forums, Facebook, and Twitter.
One friend was in town for a conference, and the other drove up so we could all have a fish fry. You knew if we were meeting on a Friday in Milwaukee we’d have to do a fish fry, right? We talked writing all night! It was awesome.
Then, on Saturday, I was part of a focus group for The Writer magazine. (The group behind The Writer also publishes Bead & Button
, Birder’s World
, and Model Railroader
, among others.) I loved that the magazine was doing that. First of all, it’s great to know that they are interested in the opinions of writers and want to continually improve the magazine. I enjoyed meeting the other writers and the editors and staff from the magazine. We got paid for our time, received some wonderful writing books, and got a tour of the building.
I came home Saturday afternoon pumped up and inspired! It was a great weekend to share ideas and talk about the craft of writing.
