I’m on Day 15 of #21daysinmyartworld (although at some point I got the days mixed up – go figure!) but today’s prompt is “How I Title My Paintings.”
Is that interesting to people? Would you buy a painting if you liked the title but not the image? I have found that if I’m on the fence about purchasing someone’s work, a good title can sometimes nudge me to buy it. Same with a good book cover. We are influenced by those things even if we don’t think we are.
I don’t have a process for naming my paintings. The name comes the same way the image does, just by whatever I feel. Sometimes I am feeling a certain verse or some poetry (many times I will add that to the painting) and then the name will come logically from that. Other times, it’s about how I feel or why I painted the image.
