Last week was Children’s Book Week, which is the perfect time to tell you that I just finished a kid’s book which will be released soon.
It’s based on a (true) family story! Years ago my grandmother (who prided herself on keeping a clean house) woke up to mouse turds on her pillow, which meant that at some point in the night a mouse had come into her room and crawled up on her bed.
My grandma was (naturally) horrified, but my silly imagination kept thinking about a mouse sneaking in to get warm and snuggling up, nightcap on and happily content to share my grandmother’s warm bed. I wrote a fictionaized version of this story, which is about friendship and compromise, with some silliness thrown in for good measure.
