Today’s #peptober post is about a “personal tipping point” in your work. Ironically I think it came when I decided to publish my very first poetry book in 2003. I’d already been writing and painting for years by then, but this was the first time I actively wanted to combine the two.
I had frequently put words on my artwork in different ways, but after this painting (titled “The Difference Now” after the book title) I included my own poetry more and more. This work helped bond together my two loves of writing and art and I then went on to create paintings that showcased my poetry in intentional ways.
