I named this painting “Bold as Love” after the Jimi Hendrix work that describes emotions as colors. I often feel like I “see” emotions as color also. In this painting, I imagined women of all walks of life and races working together to pull each other up and encourage one another.
Here are the words from “Bold as Love” that inspired me:
“Anger, he smiles, towering in shiny metallic purple armor.Queen Jealousy Envy waits behind him—her fire green gown sneers at the grassy ground.Blue are the life-giving waters taken for granted, they quietly understand.Once-happy turquoise armies lay opposite ready,But wondering why the fight is on.But they’re all bold as love…just ask the Axis.
Red, so confident, he flashes trophies of war and ribbons of euphoria.Orange is young, full of daring,But very unsteady for the first go-round.Yellow in this case is not so mellow,In fact, I’m trying to say, it’s frightened like me.And all these emotions of mine keeps holding me back from giving my life to rainbow you.”
