There are many times in the Bible where we hear the word “arise.” One of my favorites is:
“Now, why do you wait? Arise, be baptized, and wash away your sins,
calling on the name of the Lord.” (Acts 22:16)
I like the idea of rising up and doing something: taking a stand, getting work done, sticking up for someone. I like the idea of us wearing our faith in such a way that it is part of our very being.
There is a lot of inspiration in the Bible, of course, but there’s much history. We learn from this history, of people building temples and encouraging others to stand up, rise up, and take part. Today, lets pray on this verse from Ezra.
Arise, for it is your task, and we are with you; be strong, and do it. ~ Ezra 10:4
