Sometimes I know what a painting will be titled the minute I start working on it. Sometimes, the name comes up during the process. That’s how this painting was. I started by drawing a lovely face that I had floating around my brain.
And then when the eyes come in, I begin to get a sense of who this character is.
I used oil sticks and inks and some fun paper to give texture. And within the words of those bird nests I saw, “love divine” and “truth divine.”
Two snippets of paper that described “divine.” And I loved that, and adopted them both to name this girl and her nest of birdies. So “Love and Truth Divine” was born.
