“Show me your face.”
If someone I love had said that me, I’d feel so very valued and cared about and no matter what I was going through or hiding from, I’d come to them and let them hold me.
So when I read Song of Solomon 2:14 and realize it is GOD saying this to me I actually get a chill.
“My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.”
It is so beautiful a verse, isn’t it? And think about this, this is GOD saying this to his church, to us. Wow. If you think you are beyond God’s love, oh well let me tell you that you are not. He wants you to come to him. He wants you to never be afraid of him and to realize that every single moment you need him and every single moment he will be there for you.
I know this seems hard to grasp, especially if you’ve had a hard life or are going through a difficult season. But he does care. He does want you to come to him.
As an artist, I feel like this verse means that much more to me. Think about how often we feel like we must hide because: we aren’t good enough, no one will like what we do anyways, we don’t have time, we couldn’t possible sell our stuff, we wouldn’t know how….
And on and on… but you know what? God is telling you to show your face. To come to him. He will guide you, help you do the thing you were meant to do on this earth, and if that doesn’t fill your heart with gladness I don’t know what does. You were made for a reason. God created you and you have a purpose. Don’t be afraid to show your face to him.
