I know many, many good men.
In today’s world, the bad guys get all the press. The bad attitudes, the ones who shame women, put them down, abuse them…
But good guys aren’t afraid to stand up for women, they aren’t afraid of women, they don’t treat women bad.
I know many good men.
But I also know some really bad ones, too. I worked in male-dominated industries during the early part of my working life and I have a #metoo story also. I applaud any woman that comes forward and breaks the silence. It is not easy.
I wasn’t raised by a good guy. But I have a wonderful father-in-law. I have a wonderful husband. I have wonderful cousins. I have known good men.
On #InternationalMen‘sDay, I put this message on social media:
“I want to give my husby a shout out. I tell him this all the time that I am blessed to have him in my life.
I feel that God brings people together who need each other, and very often that means opposites attract. My husband is strong where I am weak. He is silly where I am too serious. He is supportive when I am doubting. . Yesterday, he pulled out his phone to show the lady at the booth next to us an article I was in. I was completely embarassed, and yet amazed that I am so lucky he is proud of me. His support has given me confidence to do things I would not have been able to do on my own. He has helped me face things I’ve carried with me too long. He has told me that I have helped him be the best version of himself, and I feel he has done this for me, too. Too often, bad men get all the attention. They get all the news stories, all our emotional memories. But let’s never forget the good men in our life. ❤ .”
Here’s to the good men, everywhere!
