The holidays must have me thinking about family… our flock…. our little gathering of loved ones. I’ve learned that it isn’t the size of the gathering that is important but is instead the amount of love and respect you each have for one another.
I’ve also been really into painting birds. I always have, really. I find birds, so delicate and yet also strong, really fascinating. In my latest book, Angel Toughness, I’ve got a poem about hummingbirds and how they remind me of just how cool God’s creativity is:
I’ve painted a few hummingbirds in the past, but the ones I enjoy painting most are really fat, fluffed up birdies that look like they’ve been sitting there waiting to give you some wisdom. They’re older, comfortable, and ready to dole out advice! haha At least, that’s how they appear to me.
No matter who you gather up this year, enjoy your holiday!
