I’m a big fan of Emily Dicksinson’s poetry, and this happens to be one of my favorites. There is something very sweet and sad about the poem, and then there’s the amazing meter that makes you think that she might be lonely but she’s trying to make the best of it. I know we all have interpretations about poetry, and that happens to be mine! LOL
Here’s the poem in case you’re not familiar with it.
I’m nobody! Who are you? Are you nobody, too?
Then there’s a pair of us — don’t tell!
They’d banish us, you know.
How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog To tell your name the livelong day To an admiring bog!
