Let’s talk about childhood crushes here for a minute, shall we? I’m a little late in issuing this message, but I want to say a happy birthday to my former crush Bobby Sherman, who turned 67 on July 22nd. Okay, who am I kidding, I still have a crush on this guy. I saw a VH-1 special a while back on him and here he was, all cute and adorable in an EMT uniform, and doing good deeds and being a great guy. What’s not to love?
While I was a girl in the 70s, I had a little 45 record player in my room that I would play my favorite tunes (Partridge Family, Jackson 5, Monkees, and of course, Bobby – cool girl that I was! LOL) and I’d listen to his records over and over. It didn’t hurt that he had guest starring roles on all of my favorite shows: Partridge Family, Here Come the Brides, and the Monkees. He did a lot of guest starring roles, and as a young kid I didn’t quite get the gist of what that meant. So when I’d see him on a show, I assumed he’d always be on it. The next time I would turn in, I’d be disappointed when he wasn’t on. But get this, I had this poster in my room of Bobby that I would kiss every night before I went to sleep. I also had this 45:
The thing about Bobby Sherman, is that he just seems so sweet. He still looks good, too! He was on the Rosie O’Donnell Show a few years ago, and he was very charming and even sang “Easy Come, Easy Go.”
Here is the original version. Check out the groovy shirt:
Here’s a clip from Here Come the Brides, which is fun because it also includes a pre-Starsky and Hutch David Soul:
Here he is on The Partridge Family:
Here’s another fun fact, and what makes me love this dude even more. He built a 1/5th scale model of Main Street Disneyland in his backyard. Here he is talking about it in 1985:
One night my hubby and I looked up all his guest appearances on Netflix and watched them. He laughed at my swooning and thought it was cute.
I hope Bobby had a wonderful birthday, with many more to come. Peace, love, and Bobby Sherman!

Oh boy. I had a mad crush on Bobby Sherman, too. My dream come true was when my friend and I went to see him in concert at an amusement park ballroom in Youngstown in about 1970. It was a teen screamfest. He was the first famous person I ever saw in person and I was so in love with him. I used to kiss his album cover. I am digging those tight leather pants on your video! Ha!
